Walking is important for every dog, and it is beneficial for your furry friend in so many ways!
Your dog needs to be walked on a regular basis. Not only does walking your dog help them get the exercise they need, it comes with a plethora of other benefits for your dog as well. In our Levittown veterinary clinic’s last blog, we went over a few of the reasons why it’s important to walk your dog regularly. Today, we will be finishing up this blog series with these last couple reasons why walking is essential for your furry friend:
#7. Confidence
A dog who is never exposed to new people, places or other animals is simply not going to feel comfortable interacting with them, and it could cause your dog to become shy, fearful or even aggressive. Walking regularly will give your dog more confidence when interacting with the rest of the world.
#8. Mental Stimulation
When you walk your dog, there is an abundance of new sights, smells and sounds for your dog to enjoy. All of these new stimulants gives your dog a chance to enjoy a mental workout. The mental stimulation your dog gets from walks is just as important as the physical stimulation, and that’s why simply exercising your dog in the yard is not enough.
As you can see, there is a long list of reasons to start walking your dog on a regular basis, even if you feel that you can exercise them without walks. If you have any questions or concerns about walking your dog or the health impacts of walking, please contact us.
